I grew up in a rural area of Texas. My parents raised 11 children in the little country house where I was was born and raised. We were a close family in more ways than one. We shared the same rooms, bed and clothes; we sometime even shared the same bath water. It was neither a sad nor boring time for me. My childhood life was filled with a playhouse for mud cakes, playmates (my siblings) peas and watermelon patches, fishponds, a vegetable garden and fruits. One of my fondest memories is helping my mother in the kitchen. By the time I was 12 years old she had enough faith in me to allow me to cook full course meals. It became my favorite past time. I loved creating a new dish or trying something new on my siblings.
Life is still neither boring nor sad. Now that I have retired from a major telecommunications company; I am pursuing my "American Dream": enjoying the faces of others as they sample the delights of "Teacakes & More" foods. There is a large gap in between mud cakes and creating the full course meals of my childhood and to where I am now. A gap that was filled with love, happiness, sorrow of losing loved ones, growing pains of children, pride in what they have become and 2 dearly loved grandsons. Is "Teacakes & More" a success? Yes, because of my faith in God and the teaching I received from my parents. I know all things are possible to those that believe............. I am a testimony that when life hands you a lemon, make some lemonade but in my case a lemon pie!!!!!!!
